The act of preparing for the transfer of a person’s assets after his or her death, naming who will handle those affairs after death, and choosing guardians for any minor children.

GUARDIANSHIP

A legal guardian is a person who has the legal authority (and the corresponding duty) to care for the personal and/or property interests of another person who is unable to do so on their own.

POWERS OF ATTORNEY

A legal document that gives someone you choose the power to act on your behalf.

PROBATE AND PROBATE AVOIDANCE

A legal process that takes place after a person passes away, which includes: proving in Court that a deceased person’s Will is valid, identifying and inventorying the deceased person’s property, paying debts of the decendant and distributing assets to the appropriate beneficiaries.

ESTATE PLANNING

The act of preparing legal documents such as Last Wills & Testaments, Trusts, and Powers of Attorney.

NURSING HOME PLANNING / MEDICAID

Planning for how to pay for nursing home expenses and the available government programs.

Bob is a Certified Elder Law Attorney by the National Elder Law Foundation and is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, State Bar of Wisconsin, and Brown County Bar. Bob volunteers at the Brown County Aging and Disability Resource Center as a Meals on Wheels driver and has been active in the Green Bay area for many years.

Mary Rose is a Certified Elder Law Attorney by the National Elder Law Foundation and is a member of the Wisconsin State Bar, Wisconsin State Bar Elder Law Section, Brown County Bar, National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and the Wisconsin Chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. She also serves as a court-appointed Guardian ad Litem for the Brown County Probate Court. Mary Rose volunteers at the Brown County Aging and Disability Resource Center as a Meals on Wheels driver and provides pro bono legal services through the free legal counsel program and is active in the community.
